Cushman & Wakefield rapidly expands Melbourne footprint with 16 strategic appointments

March 24, 2017: Cushman & Wakefield has significantly expanded its Melbourne agency and global occupier platforms with the recent appointment of 16 new operatives in the current quarter as the Company continues to build a leading presence across Australia’s East Coast.

Cushman & Wakefield has recently built on a large number of appointments made in the last six months, including the senior and strategic hires of six agents within the industrial sector, four senior appointments in both Commercial and Retail asset management and has also established the leading retail leasing team in the Melbourne market.

In addition, Cushman & Wakefield has established a capital markets team in Melbourne, appointing Stephen Imrie as Director and Head of Capital Markets in Melbourne. Stephen joined from Knight Frank where he spent 15 years in a range of senior positions.

Cushman & Wakefield’s Global Occupier Services Team also comprises approximately 600 staff in Melbourne delivering end-to-end integrated facilities management solutions. Cushman & Wakefield continues to leverage its position as the number one occupier services business in Australia to expand its presence with a rapidly growing pipeline of contract opportunities in the Melbourne market.

As part of growing the Melbourne footprint, Cushman & Wakefield has also recently completed the relocation of its operations to Dexus Property Group’s 385 Bourke Street office in the Melbourne CBD, where the business occupies 2,500 sqm

Dominic Long, Cushman & Wakefield’s Managing Director, Commercial Real Estate Melbourne, said, “The recent expansion of the Melbourne business follows 100 national hires within Cushman & Wakefield in only 18 months. In Melbourne alone, we have grown the team by 74 per cent in only six months, attracting leading talent from seven different competitor firms.

Cushman & Wakefield’s Melbourne Director of Global Occupier Services, commented, “The agency growth builds on the established presence of the Victorian occupier services business that manages some 600 personnel. We are currently experiencing unprecedented demand for integrated occupier services solutions in the Melbourne market which assists to underpin the overall growth of the Cushman & Wakefield business in Victoria.”

“We are taking a very strategic approach to building our capability in all traditional Agency markets of Industrial, Retail and Commercial, all of which have strong fundamentals, and where Cushman & Wakefield already have a leading national presence,” Mr. Long added.

“We have set aggressive targets for revenue growth and market penetration in Melbourne, and are already gaining traction though combining Cushman & Wakefield’s global bench strength, leading local talent and flexible service offering.

“For example, we have assembled the most prominent retail leasing team in Melbourne and are currently shortlisted for all CBD and inner fringe developments – after less than six months. We are well placed to take advantage of a strong outlook for retail leasing, with positive economic conditions in the state underpinning above average MAT growth,” Mr Long concluded.
